[Pink Pig Time Machine by Wilfrid: March 20, 2017]
Cool, snowy in March 2007. All familiar enough. It was a quiet week in the city for me, broken up by the rousing racket of a St Patrick's Day concert at the Bowery Ballroom, put together by Joe Hurley, and featuring CBGB stalwarts like Tish 'n' Snooky and Richard Lloyd.
No grand restaurant meals.
There was pork belly and pickles at Wu Liang Ye, on the way to see Liev Schreiber in "Talk Radio." There was fried calamari followed by the great Peruvian roast chicken at Mancora (still a delicious bargain today). There was mondongo at Joselito's and hot dogs at Crif Dogs.
I also saw "Room Service" at the SoHo Playhouse, a revival of the 1930s farce which became a Marx Brothers movie.
