[Pink Pig Time Machine by Wilfrid: October 3, 2016]
Yes, this pig was more orange than pink. A nice, fatty pork shoulder, well rubbed with annatto, garlic and sazón, and cooked long and slow. I ate cochinita pibil several days at the end of September ten years ago. Including in tacos, in quesadillas, and with Native American "fry bread."
I did eat out too.
I had lunch at Tides (salad, lobster roll). I finally had tickets to a Yankees/Red Sox game, but the weather turned it into a double-header which meant I watched a non-starting Yankees line-up.
A wish dinner at Dona, one of my favorite restaurants of the year: oysters with ginger and grapefruit, uni with caviar, papardelle with braised goat, poussin with dates. And after a great show by Jeffrey Lewis at the Bowery Ballroom the next evening, a late dinner at Skyway Malaysian: omelette with baby oysters, chicken with bitter melon, roti canai, rambutans.
And to close out the month casually, the pastrami sandwich from Katz's, sausage rolls from Tuck Shop, and my own home-cooked lamb thariwalla. (Okay, it was from Cooking Like Mummyji by Vicki Bhogal.)
