The 2014-2015 season of wine tastings at the Instituto Cervantes in midtown marks the fifteen anniversary of the series, presented by the extraordinarily well-informed and well-connected wine writer, film-maker, and philosopher of science Helio San Miguel.
I've been dropping in since the early days (tickets are hard to come by unless you already know the people who have them; it's not Rao's, but you know...) and I've been lucky enough to drink some rare and aged wines I would otherwise never have seen (or been unable to afford). The latest treasure, a 1962 Bodegas Toro Albala Don PX from Montilla--low on cloying plum puddingness, high on silky elegance.
Here's to the next fifteen years.
