Never mind dirty water hot dogs. Some of us have shabby memories of gyros too--sold from street carts to lines of over-refreshed youngsters, or slung on paper plates--if you're lucky--at a joint like Bereket on East Houston. Re-fueling food.
Of course, it doesn't have to be that way, and GRK Fresh Greek--set to be a small chain--is at least turning the food out in an appealing environment.
Thus far, there's only the FiDi location on Fulton Street. My daughter and I--needing, precisely, fuel--stopped in for a quick bite, and pitas stuffed with lamb and beef, with a basil, shredded cucumber, garlic, and lemon zest sauce, did the trick.
You can get a plate for just over ten bucks (a sandwich is about $7.50, plus tax). If you're looking for a meal, add rice, potato chips, or slaw. And there's greek yogurt to finish.
Hail the website.
