I think they were $5 a gram, but I could be wrong. Six grams recommended minimum for any dish. That, of course, was ten years ago.
But leading up to the San Domenico truffle feast, a quiet few days getting over Brazil.
The arrival of white truffles at San Domenico was bound to cheer. After drinks at the Carnegie Club behind Carnegie Hall, we sat down to:
Cheese fondue with polenta
Raviolini with veal jus
Roast veal with chanterelles
Quail stuffed with sage and onion, fennel mousse
Panacotta
White chocolate cake
Zabaglione
Ice cream
Petits fours
A 1997 Barbaresco accompanied the truffle showered savory dishes. And the next day it rained. But not as heavily this week in 2012.
