[Telegrams from the Street by Wilfrid: June 8, 2011]
Fake old can be done badly, and usually is, but it can also be done well. Witness the installation of a faux-English, faux-Victorian gin palace in this building just off Union Square.
Named for Lillie Langtry, courtesan to the Victorian aristocracy, it's been here a couple of years without me noticing. Coming soon to Times Square too.
Nothing to say, really. I just thought it looked great on a bright early summer afternoon.

Here's a website. There are a few "British" dishes on the menu.
They often have Irish-music seisiuns on Sundays. I went once to see a friend play and it was a nice, relaxing afternoon.
