If you clicked over here a year ago, and found the larder bare, with an "under construction" notice, risk clicking again.
Duty finally prevailed over lethargy, and I have blown the dust off reviews of almost one hundred of the city's more interesting restaurants, and laboriously arranged them in what we used to call "alphabetical order" - a codification which seems, thus far, not to have been swept entirely aside by its association with the so-called "meat world".
You ought, therefore, unless you are entirely dissolved into The Virtual, to be able to find the reviews. Most are cut and potted versions of reviews which have appeared already on the Pink Pig or at MouthfulsFood. Where it seemed interesting, I have included several reviews, the most recent first, In a few cases, where the review can't be pulled from under the floor-boards, I have included a brief comment.
The pages will grow as I find time to type more opinions. There is a ranking of a kind, for those who grasp stars and numerical scores like life-belts. It's awfully casual - it appears immediately after the first review. I have used terms ranging from "poor" to "excellent", the latter often supplemented by the comment "the best" or "among the best in the city".
There is also an important floating descriptor: "disappointing". This stands in no linear relationship with terms like "poor", "good" and "very good". It means the restaurant isn't what is should be. And we have a few of those.
Oh well, taste and try, and please e-mail with any comments or suggestions. Also, send checks, because the investment in this quantity of eating has, frankly, been ruinous, and my children are already begging on the streets.
Cuidas, mis mariposas.
