Yet another shout out to one of my neighborhood stalwarts, Back Forty.
It might not need it, but it deserves it. Look out, among the specials, for the regular appearance of deftly cooked whole porgy, with a lemony-garlicky stuffing. Of course...
...you won't necessarily get two of the critters. It was late at night, and I guess you serve them or throw them.
Meanwhile, pressed into my fishy trotter, news of forthcoming beer/cheese events. I am hardly alone in esteeming the work former Murray cheeseologist and nifty painter Anne Saxelby is doing with her encyclopaedic collection of American cheeses at the Essex Street market. Her selections will be pairing with light and wheat beers on May 7. My interest is piqued, though, by a pairing of Six Point ales from Red Hook with British cheeses - the finest in the world, as John Arlott rightly said - on May 21.
Hey, these aren't the only events, but Back Forty should be updating its website rather than relying on my copy-typing. Call them for details.
Just breaking: I remembered how to scan.
