Who could refuse some super-cute sugars from Chambre de Sucre to taste and test? Well honestly, I was half in a quandary. I only use sugar if I drink strong espresso or ristretto or maybe mint tea.
Of course I cook with sugar, but regular readers will know I am more likely to be stewing some gizzards than baking a cake. But like I said, it's cute. And there are people who care.
If that's how you roll come four o'clock, or if you'd just like to cheer up your coffee break - or, I'm told, if you celebrate Ochugen, the Japanese hot weather gift-giving fest celebrated round about now - you will be all over these titbits.
There were heart shaped ones too but I think somebody put them in the pie - see below.
Well they are pretty and I did try tasting them and in all honesty I probably need some training. They tasted like sugar. Oh I am so disappointed in my powers of description. Hand-made, not processed, and you kind find out all about them here.
I did try cooking with them too but they got a bit hidden among the pecans.
