This project of quietly tracing my dining activities of ten years ago will have, as I've said before, its ups and downs. After last week's birthday dinner at Daniel, not much to report from the following days...except one startling piece of news.
A complete mystery to begin with. A friend passed through town without warning, and I took him out for an impromptu supper at...Spencer.
Spencer? You may well ask. I think it was in the east 20's, but I remember nothing more about it. My journal tells me that an open lobster raviolo was followed by meatloaf wrapped in bacon, and that we repaired to Paddy McGuire's for post-prandial refreshment. More I cannot tell you.
Apparently I worked through the weekend, then started the week with some home cooking - fish soup, shrimp pasta, lemon chicken. Then just when it all seemed peaceful, it seems I learned that there was a baby on the way. Tempus fugit, and no mistake.
