[A Pig at Large: November 10, 2009]
Did Foodbuzz hold a food blogging convention, someone just asked me? Oh yes they did, and I was one of some two hundred and fifty attendees.
I think Midtown Lunch and I formed the entire New York delegation, exemplifying quality rather than quantity. The west coast was well represented, but so was Texas, and there were writers present from Alaska and Australia too.
Fun though the event was, it did require some powers of endurance, and I thought I felt myself wilting after beginning Saturday with an olive oil tasting followed by a California sparkler tasting. Olive oil for breakfast? Try it.
Over the rest of the week, I'll be posting about each of the events and linking to some of the bloggers I ran into. It kicked off with drinks and hors d'oeuvres from Midi restaurant (I liked the pork rillettes) on the roof terrace at the Hotel Vitale, and a stunning view of the Ferry Building and the Bay Bridge. This was just opposite the lovely 1889 Audifredd building which currently houses a bistro.
By the way, if you are impatient to learn more, there are approximately two hundred and fifty discussions of the convention online already, and doubtless with better photos. More later.
